One of the things I enjoy most about delivering fish is that I get to see all the different systems around the place. Apart from Joels DWC system all have been home systems, yesterday however I was lucky enough to get to see a trial commercial system set up by the Armadale Noongar Corp in conjunction with Challenger TAFE. The system comprises of two 5000L tanks each with their own biofilters and runs of NFT channels. 350 Trout in each tank are providing the nutrients for the sytem. Planting had only just started so it should be interesting to see how things look in a few weeks time.

Looks brand new..no algae at all - do you think it will handle that many fish straight up?

The fish have been added gradually over the past month or so at 50 - 100 at a time to each tank as the ammonia levels have been coming down. The guys there are doing daily water tests so they should be onto any sudden spikes. I should have added that the bio filtration unit consists of a swirl separator, and sponge and brush filters to remove all solids before entering a compartment filled with bio balls.

Nice little comercial system. It doesn't look much bigger than Rupe's system. Can someone earn a living on one of that size or is it just supplimental income...a hobby that makes a little profit???

The latter BRB... you'd have to scale up by a factor of 100 to come even close...
