This is the first commercial AP system that plans to operate with both fresh and saltwater.

They intend to commerically raise Tilapia, Shrimp and Barramundi.
Anyone know more about them?

First I've heard of them.... wonder what they're going to do with their saltwater effluent ...

Interesting..... Though most stuff on the site is just info cut and pasted directly from other places on the net. If you check the "blog" they have picked up news articles about aquaculture and replaced the word aquaculture with aquaponics. I mean come on... "Malaysia to produce 70,000 tonnes to 507,000 tonnes by 2010 of aquaponic fish", and "Nigeria Imports $650M of Aquaponic Frozen Fish Every Year"... I don't think so...

The "bandwagon" is collecting a lot of players recently.... hope it's big enough to support them all......

I was wondering if it was a bogus site or not- no detail on "their" system, only photos of plants in a greenhouse which could be hydroponics since I see no fish tanks and regurgitated web info. Also another red flag was the fact that they intend to raise Barramundi- it's not on the accepted list for CDFG- but that's not to say they wouldn't give special persmission, since we do have one Redclaw breeder in Northern California. I think the CDFG will have to relax some of their restricted species rules if they plan for California to continue to compete- I know they're working hard on the off-shore net pen idea and I think we are the only state that raises Albaonie, but it is indiginous and all indiginous species are allowed for aquaculture.

On another note, I did find something that might interest the forum, a brother-sister team that drew up an aquaponics business plan and won a $50,000 BioVenture Challenge business start up prize. Lucky slobs!!!

I have come across them previously and had them comment on my blog, http://synaptoman.wordpress.com a few times. Not sure if it was genuine interest or a spam visit, but approved the comments anyway.
