I would have thought that you would have gotten the same amount of holes with a DWC. Was there any reason you went with the a-frame? I assume the platform in the middle of the water bed will hold a person's weight? |

I went with the A-frame instead of dwc to use the vertical space and yes the wood planking is walkway. I plan on running a test set with 8 or 9 leafy greens to see what works best.right now the system has been on only 2 weeks |

Congratulations firstly, system looks like a big project. I have concerns for the ease of your harvest and planting but I hope that it goes all to plan. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one but when you are trying to get nitrifying bacteria to colonise they are sensitive to light so you want to limit it as much as possible, maybe that was not you biofilter in the picture but it just looked like it to me. I hope that your project will bring you every success |

That is the bio filter I have insulation panels to cover it with haven't fitted them on yet also its mostly covered by the seedling bed. I'm trying to figure out oxygen/air injection right now I have a pressurised air line fitted to each tank with venturi injectors. I have an oxygen generator but am looking for some kind of air blower incase the pure ox isn't enough. I had a spa blower on their but couldn't handle constant operation I'm shying away from a compressor as its too much to run electrical wise. |

An nice cheap blower is the http://www.gastmfg.com/support_documents/LTD139rE.pdf *edit* scratch that you have a huge blower their so why so little water movement ? Ideally R2103 is something I am trying to hunt down in Au for an airlift bio filter design it's capable 4" head and doing my 100kl / hr easily 25 inches Submerged 424 lpm air 503.757 GPM 3.35838 Gallons/Watts 20 inches Submerged 566 lpm air 674.228 GPM 4.494853333 Gallons/Watts 15 inches Submerged 707 lpm air 843.481 GPM 5.623206667 Gallons/Watts 5 inches Submerged 849 lpm air 1011.467 GPM 6.743113333 Gallons/Watts Nice idea planting above the tanks , For mine I was going to hang mine all on chains and just swing the pipes to an harvest area personally instead of doing NFT on the walls I would have done stepped grow beds with some form of trickling water to gain some bio filtration , looks like you're going to have heaps of fish |

It looks like you have a lot of water and relatively small plant growing area. Is there a solids removal system in there somewhere? Your culture tanks stocking density is probably going to be very low? Would you share your calculations about water treatment and production rates? |
