hi everyone, Since I am starting with the idea of making a commercial system, I have created a small system just to experiment and get some experience and practice. I have not grow anything because i haven't finished building my DWC system that consist of the fish tank, two different types of filters (swirl and particulate) then goes to the rafts. Each raft has a grow light, air stones to keep my roots with oxygen but I wanted to ask: if I have 3 rafts and for each raft i can grow 8 lettuce from seedling to harvest and another one for seeds to grow to seedlings, how many seeds do i have to plant each week to harvest every week. thanks. |

How many do you plan on eating? Plant that many each week, and keep on doing it each week until you've got enough. It should say on the packet how long it'll take to get to harvest size, different varieties take longer. But if it's just for home, have a look at a pick and come again type of lettuce, you can plant them densely, and then pick off what you need. Saves a stack of space. |

so you are saying that if i want to harvest 12 iceberg lettuce every week in my 24 lettuce system i should plant 12 seeds every week? i am asking all of this because i heard that lettuce in a well controled system could grow from seed to harvest in 30 days. or i am wrong? i have 3 raft in which i can put 8 seedlings in each raft and one small grow media for seeds. thanks |

If you want 12 iceberg lettuce every week, then you'll need to plant 12 iceberg lettuce plants every week. Then just replace the seeds as you harvest. However, the growth guide hasn't been as accurate in my system, it always seems to take longer than what the packet says. But if you've only got 24 holes, you won't have enough room to grow 12 icebergs per week. |
