Thanks for that OBO. We stopped feeding our trout when the temps hit 22C as they were very slow in coming up for food. Likewise we stopped feeding them everyday when the water temp gets below about 6C, just a sprinkle every 3 days. They seem to survive on that regime.

WD and OH.

Yup, hit 25 again today, they are still jumping at the surface for food, but not getting any. Weather reports look good for the next 7 days :)

according to an aquaculture manual I've read, trout metabolism almost stop when the water temp get to 18c, any food will be eaten and discarded trought the gut without being metabolized, basically a waist of food, money, and water getting more clogged of sediment, and at temp of 25 you defenetly don't want to have more stuff in your water as oxigen is even more precious and less avilable in hot condition, try to freeze a few 5lt plastic drums filled with water then plaace them in your FT, also having an insulated FT will help to slow down temperature fluctuations, and defenetly provide shade to the FT give the kick too.
My trout this summer have gone to 25c and they are all still happy swimming around.
good luck

I have actually been using an evap aircon sprinkler spraying across the top of the shade cloth over the tank to keep it all cool.

Sort of like a coolgardie safe.

Your talking about keeping the water Cool.. Have you thought of cycling water thru a Trickle tower/bakki shower to help cool the water..
