To build is to creat! Its fun, its exciting, its materializing your dreams. Its tiring but you get back much more at the end. Self-respect, pride, confidence. You feel like you realy did stg that has a reason.

I wish I could be there! Good job, keep it up!

Workdays!
Tuesday, June 28th (this Tuesday)
Starting around 9:00 am and going until whenever. I hope to rent a soil compacter for this day. Come get your hands shaken off! =)

Saturday, July 2nd (I know, it's the 4th weekend, but that's when people responded that they're available)
Noon-5:00
If we get enough soil compacted, this will be a trough building day. Table saw!

Tuesday, July 5th (again with the long weekend, fool!)
9:00am til whenever.

Doodle scheduling thingie to say if you can come (if you happen to live in this hemisphere... ) http://www.doodle.com/kpdenuxwzwsix7za

That tip about flipping and finishing the hole from the other side when using a hole saw is a good one for just about any material. Added benefit is it usually makes for cleaner edges on the cuts too. If you just power it through from the first side you often get a bit of a mess on the other side.

Keep up the good work on the build.

More work!

Sump pit almost complete. Using a 5gal bucket (19 liter) as a step to get out.

I tried a few different ways to keep the insulation and plywood attached to the IBC frame, but our favorite standby, cable ties, ended up the best solution:

Sumptank in place!

Some of the critters keeping me company:

Toad waiting for ants to come up the crack:

I had to pull a few of these out of the sump pit as I was digging it.

Dragonfly taking a break on a sheet of insulation:

A moth taking a break on my knee, checking out the salt and dirt on my skin:

A breeding pair of American Kestrels hanging out on a test frame I built:

I also have Prairie Skinks, but I haven't managed to get a pic yet:

(Pic from Nature Bend Nature Center, http://www.rbnc.org/herps.htm)

There are also lots of various herons, a Bald Eagle that flies over many days, and I've seen a coyote as well.

Bushy: LOL. As you can see in one of the pics, I have a ladder right there, but honestly, the bucket is easier to use. :)

Thanks, Faye! The wildlife is a complete bonus. I wasn't expecting it, but I sure do appreciate it. Especially the toads and skinks. Insect control + sign of a healthy ecology.
