Comon, I have been doing this for a while lol :D Pics later of how the water enters the beds.

Total tank capacity of 12,500 litres per tank. 2 x Laguna 16000 each tank.

Lets say a pump is providing 10,000 litres at the beds.

Supplying around 40 IBC's

Thats 250 litres per bed per hour. Water capacity of each bed is around 400 litres.

Hmmmm, might be too slow? I'm keen to give it a go if no one says they had major disasters doing this already.

With that level of flow will it be turning over the tanks enough? If the pumps are not producing that much which seems likely, at least when the spider is switched to the longer runs, then are the fish going to be ok?

The figures on stocking densities that were being thrown around earlier were what we deduced from your stocking numbers. Since you are going to be the one running the system and you will have control over feeding and harvesting what would you estimate your maximum stocking density will be?

That is less than turning over the tanks once per hour. Not a problem as long as the density is not too high. Given the disscusion earlier would be good to check that NH3/4 build up won't be a problem. As long as the density is less than ~40kg/m3 a low flow rate can be dealt with by aeration in the tanks but if the flow is too low then oxygen is no longer the limiting factor while amonia is. When we were looking at running our system at maximum density without O2 injection I was told to design the system so that the ft s were turned over twice per hour.

Rup is probably able to answer this question as long as you can tell him/us what your feed rate will be at your maximum density. That will give Rup the necessary data to be able to calculate the minimum flow rate that you will need.

No it's 20,000 per hour per tank lol :)

I just brought two x 9000 liter tanks also. Decided I will need them.

Ok so now I'm confused.

Two 12kL tanks with two Laguna 16000 pumps each? To give 20000 L per tank?

Or

Two 12kL tanks with a Laguna 16000 pump each? To give 10000 L per tank?

If the former should be fine. If the latter could be a problem especially if flow is reduced when spider is filling ibcs furthest from fts.

2 tanks

4 x 16000 pumps

2 per tank

20,000 liters flow per tank

12,500 liters per tank

Thanks, less confused now.

Of course that means I'm still confused just not as much as I was.
