I'll be negative

The bnit about more consultants than projects rings true...................too much talking, not enough doing. Thats what i like about HERE, most contributing members either have or are in the process of having a working AP system. Some more than one :)

As is common, much of the ground breaking reseach is carried on in someones backyard or shed........to often forgotten and lost in history when the books are written :)

So, back to the positives! :)

I have heard of the project before, i think there is a simmilar set up in sydney somewhere.

The other plus on this concept of roof top AP is that it could benifit the climate...................

I'm really sketchy on the details, but i'm sure i read somewhere that all the concrete / steel roof tops is some how affecting G/W because of reflected heat...........i read it in passing cant tell you much more :)

Steve,

You are right about the rooftops and warming but I think the efect is on the local micro climate. Watched a show on Discovery a while back about a rooftop greening project in Tokyo. They were putting in rooftop growing beds filled with lightweight media. The scientist who they were interviewing said that if all available flat rooftop space in Tokyo was greened the avarage temp in Tokyo would be reduced by around two degrees c.

Urban Aquaponics is a Canberra-based organisation and Tailormade Fish Farms is based in Port Stephens in New South Wales.

Geoff Wilson, one of the people associated with Urban Aquaponics, is a journalist whose interest in urban farming spans about 30 years. In fact, Geoff was the first person that I ever heard use the term "micro-farming" - about 30 years ago.

Both companies have an interest in Barramundi and Lettuce - if I recall correctly.

Well I do notice all the commercial sites that I am aware of also offer AP training, AP Kits large or small, and consultation. Is this because they want to spread the AP bug? Is this making a market where little exists?
Do they have to do this side business to make a profit?

In most cases, the AP kits and consultation IS thier only business and I also think there is a little bit of exploitation of human vision and impulsivity from a novel idea that appears to hold promise. The ADHD side of us takes over!

Well at this point I'm still doing double value for most expenditures. Green house will be good no mater whats in it. Fish tank, can be used as a big kiddie pool or just a landscaping fish pond. The rest, Pvc piping etc can just sit in the rafters of the garage untill I get AHHD again! Do you know what kind of down hill speed can be reached with a blue barrel half and a good foot of snow coverage?

You can also get a picnic lunch and a slim woman in that half barrel with you making it triple value for money. Use it to keep your socks in, wash the dog, or as a hat to wear at the races.

Geoff Wilson has also recently received some funding for building a roof top system in Brisbane.
