Cool. I'm planning on going to Ryan's next course. Maybe we'll meet there.

BTW has Chatters on Farms been organically certified?

I dunno, but it doesn't matter to me. I'm not doing this commercially.

Ryan's is not organically certified and honestly he doesn't need to be. He gets top shelf prices for his produce because he is a very good gardener and produces amazing veggies. He does a CSA, direct market to restaurants and attends some farmers markets (and maybe more but that's what he told us).

However, based on the class I attended and the equipment/setup I saw at Ryan's, I would say he wouldn't have to do much to get certified if he wanted to do so (for example he uses rockwool in the DWC and that is not allowed in organic certification).

Most folks get more money/interest in their product if it's labeled as locally grown vs organic. BONUS: You can get certified as naturally grown - they just approved aquaponics for this certification: http://www.cngfarming.org/aquaponics

Hey spin, good luck with your research and any future undertakings.
One observation from reading Ryan's thread (Chatterson Farms): he works really, really hard at his successful venture. I'd only consider commercial AP as a retirement gig if you want a pretty busy retirement.

Lol, thanks. I want a normal life being I'm a merchant marine. Working isn't really work if you like what you're doing and I love to garden. Well see how it turns out but as of now I'm moving forward.

Good advice. I was at Ryan's first class also (Hey Eddie!) if you're going to spend the money, Ryan's class is the way to go. Ryan shows you everything you need to know and gives you plans for everything. I too am considering a "retirement" to my property and AP greenhouse. I'm hoping to be able to afford a PT help so that I don't have to work 10-12 hours daily and will be able to take some time off occasionally. Like you said, it's only "work" if you don't like it.

Where are you located at in Fl? I'm in Pasco.

Not sure about Eddie but I live in Pensacola and my property in in Milton. Like millions of others 2008 destroyed my pension and this is a means of survival and something I enjoy.
