Be easy to see leaks with the return line full all the time. Unless your planing to bury them.

They will be buried, they go brittle otherwise. There will be no leaks :)

The pump runs through one of Rupes spiders, so only two beds are being flooded at a time. Water level in the tank varies by about 1 inch each cycle.

The pump I am getting is one of these: http://www.creativepumps.com.au/zpumps/laguna/laguna_maxflo_pumps.htm

Awesome job OBO :notworthy:

I,ve got a couple of those Laguna pumps (6000 and 7500), very reliable, my 6000 has been running 24/7 for 2 years and hasn't missed a beat.

This looks really awesome.

Just wondering what size is the PVC pipe?

And why not have the IBCS' drain as low as you can? Especially seeing that you are using a spider? Wouldn't there then be more aeration? And be turning over more water?

Did I say "looks awesome", (yes, yes i did)

+1 On Laguna, my 7500 has been running 24/7 for 18 months without any trouble. It even pumps perfect on an inverter when the backup kicks in. In fact my tank level rises about 15mm when im running on the inverter so i know it likes a modified sine wave.

Look at that aeration :)

There are a couple of drips, but all in all for the scale and sheer amount of fittings, the install has gone well.
The 12,000 litre per hour pump that I have fitted is too small. I cant supply enough water to the fingerling tanks and the growbeds at the same time. It will make a good backup pump though.

I will fine tune the drain, and plant out the beds tomorrow.

Nice large setup in the forth photo [10 ibc/s plumed in whats the reason for putting the y branch lines the way you did [i see it as back the front ]

Hehe, it's actually because I glued up two, and then realised what I'd done, so I made the rest the same :) It actually makes the siphons start better. The two end beds dont have the reverse flow, and they are harder to get to start.

Luke - It's to add to the total system volume. Having an extra 300 litres or so of water in the growbeds all the time adds up over 20 or so beds. More water is betterer.

I added fish today after nightshift :) Grabbed a couple of Perch, Bream and Goldfish from the old system, and chucked them in gently. Everything seems to be going ok.

Water has cleared up pretty well.

Added a whole heap more fish last night, and everything was going well.....

Turns out that the rain last night was quite a bit heavier than expected, resulting in runoff from the neighbours yard entering my fish tank hole :( Tank floated, breaking all the connections, and pumping itself dry. I was concerned at midnight and checked the system but there was no water in the hole. I then checked again at 2.30am and found everything broken. Had to find the air pump, run that into the little fish tank and I had to use the pump from in the tank to drain the hole out, which took a couple of hours, then resettle the tank evenly and refill. Then redo the plumbing. Took from 2.30am till 9am.

Pumping out the hole.

See the tide mark :D

I got to see a really nice sunrise lol

System is now back up and running.

I have built a little wall around the tank, and diverted water away from it also.

Fish seem to be ok, but I have added 25kg of salt to help a bit.

Image

Water level around the tank is still dropping, even though it is still raining. Hopefully the wall is high enough, otherwise I'll make it higher :)

What a night.

Thats exactly what I thought Faye :D

Salt was put into the currently fishless main tank, so it's being spread around.
