I have a question for synaptoman. On page 3 of this subject, you posted several pictures of what we call here in the U.S. "european tanks", do you have any more information in regards as to how they are built? The red framework that I saw in one of the pictures, is it left in place and cemented in for stuctural strength. Sorry for my curiosity but these are the tanks that I am ultimately interested in building for my final system and I have only found one aquaculture farm that uses them here so far but I have been unable to locate any information as to construction.

The tanks in question are made out of cement blocks all with a slight curve. The are built around a mould, which is the red thing you see in the middle. It is removed afterwards as it is just there for shape. The pond is then plastered inside and outside and the painted with a waterproof coating (or 3)

If you want, I can post more pictures of the block making and cosntruction process.

Some images from today. A really hot day (34degrees C and it's Autumn !!) We have now constructed 80% of the greenhouse frame and hope to get it completed by the end of next week with plastic on etc. Then we have the luxury of working even when the rains come.

Denzel has gone AWOL and I've used my two reserves, Ziggy and Shawn. The frame should be finished tomorrow.

Great progress!

Just curious, how hot and cold does it get there? I kinda stayed away from doing greenhouse plastic here as most of the year it would get too hot and I didn't want to spend any energy cooling the thing.

badfish03.

Kit form from Spain. I'll post some more detailed images and also a page or two from the manual which is quite good. Wish you guys were here to help, I'm having a ball.

Temperatures (outside ambient) 5 deg in winter minumum (no frost) and average high in summer 25 deg. It peaks at about 38 deg during "berg winds".

Thank you all for your comments and encouragment, I'm sure I couldn't have done this without all of you.

Finished the basic frame today and got the guys started on cutting the pipes. Attached an image. I've shortened the greenhouse by 5m to fit into the site, so I am left with 25m x 9.5m, which should be fine. The central slab is 9m x 9m. I now need ideas for my GB placement to get optimal coverage. The space on either side of the central slab is thus about 7.5m x 9.5m. The pipes are 6m long so I can use combinations of 6m, 3m and 2m GB's.
(diameter 500mm so height 250mm.)

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Synaptoman how many pipes total do you have? Looked like 14 pcs. in the pic but don't know how many were already unloaded.

Could you do a bleacher or tiered style frame to hold them with the high point being in the center below the highest point of the greenhouse? Or maybe a couple units that way side to side so long as you could reach the upper growbed area for planting and such.

Weight might be a problem if you try and tier them.... should imagine they're pretty heavy on their own... fill them with media and water.....
