Hi

Can you someone pls tell me the difference between recirculating aeration system and Zero Exchange aerobic heterotrophic system?

I have been looking online but cant find much on the differences. It seems like one system uses BioFolics.

I am pretty much starting a backyard freshwater malaysia tiger prawns and then will move on to try some saltwater ones.

Any help would be really appericated.

From a quick google search it would appear that a Recirculating aeration system is typical of what is used aquaponics ie water in fishtank is pumped to filters and back to fishtank with added aeration. filters could be growbeds or solids removal filters for physical removal of solids. 'ZEAH' systems appear to be self contained and rely on a high rate of aeration to help bacteria/algae etc break down prawn waste producing a floc-like biofilm which the prawns consume. Only selected species are apparently suitable for ZEAH systems.

Others maybe able to give you a better understanding.
