Interesting; a commercial project that has received approx. $2.5 million in Govt. funding/grants, redefines 'commercial' IMO. Bit like saying being on the dole is being gainfully employed.

I think the project has a level of private investment funding that goes well beyond that Mcfarm...

Big dollars flowing in before they have a product to sell scaffolds my suspicions. Whilst the technology is interesting these guys will be competing with a fungible product which is in oversupply - namely food.

Therefore I will revise my guesstimate and give them 3 years - given they haven't made a physical produce sale yet (even assuming forward contracts have been made to any of the duopoly/metcash/costco/aldi). Genuinely hope I am wrong but, with 4 decades of business start up experience, my gut tells me otherwise and they are gonna come a cropper (pun intended).

Anybody read the FAQ? - http://www.urbanecologicalsystems.com/i ... Itemid=176

Reads like a sales pitch. Commercial farm or working display?

The old saying comes to mind "Easy come easy go...."

Seems a large percentage of start ups that have big cash injections to get them off the ground, fall flat on their faces just as quickly...

We've worked hard to get our business to where it is, step by step, without receiving any funding or going far into any debt. Five years has come and gone and we're still going.... :thumbright:
