BARRAMUNDI BLUE AT CARDWELL TO BE SOLD

Geoff Orpin and Cynthia Taylor are selling the award-winning Barramundi Blue facility to allow them to concentrate on a range of new international projects, and a new farm at Lucinda. They completed a partnership project last month on developing the first recirculative aquaculture operation in Jeju, South Korea. Another farm, in Vietnam, is being built, and there are plans for farms in Hong Kong, Thailand, Laos and the Philippines. The developments use technology pioneered in Hinchinbrook Shire and various fish species are being or will be produced, depending on the location. Mr Orpin notes that several countries have embraced the technology developed at Barramundi Blue, but the Australian Government has not shown the same enthusiasm for change.
