Dang, didn't edit fast enough.

See, the thing is, in your original topic, you never actually explained your method. You say

From memory.... he uses Sea-90... which is basically a sea salt... salt water mix...

Sea water is very high in trace elements.... I used to regularly top up my hydro bin with sea water, then add a touch of urea, and Seasol....

Mind you ... he also uses

Quote:
RID-X as a beneficial bacteria works great, and using sulfuric acid pipe cleaner as a sulfur ingredient and ph down works great"

RID-X is a septic tank cleaning treatment.... while it does contain some enzymes abd "bacteria"...

It also contains glycerin, fragrances, and "FD&C Blue 1"... a colourant....

Personally... I wouldn't have it anywhere near my aquaponics system... or my hydroponics system either....

Sulphuric acid just isn't really needed... in terms of supplying sulphur to the plants.... they don't need buggar all... and both Seasol, and/or Sea-90.... would provide all that's needed...

Why if he's using Sulphuric acid... he also needs to use "pH down".... is beyond me.... but most people know my thoughts regarding "pH down"....

And in an AP system... there's other better ways (IMO)... to adjust pH....

N4S1.... there's nothing wrong with your "secret nutrient" mix.... from a hydroponics viewpoint....

Although I wouldn't use some of the substances....

But, it's questionable whether or not you could apply your "mixture" to an aquaponics system.... or indeed whether or not even standard hydronutrient mixes could/should be used....

Some of the other "ingredients"... while perhaps applicable to hydroponics.... just aren't applicable, or needed... in aquaponics....

I think perhaps that you need to understand some of the differences between hydroponics and aquaponics... the most important being that aquaponics is a "natural", chemical free system and approach.... and fish are very sensitive to chemical inputs....

In general... we discourage the type of appraoch that treats an aquaponics system like a chemical laboratory...

N4S1, why are you upset? sure youve tried something, but you havent shared any results, on this thread any way, and rupe was just passing a comment on the things you are putting into your system . . . . :support: .
