Hi All, I'm just at the point of dipping my toe in the pond of aquaponics. I'm converting an IBC and need to get media, fish etc. who can you recommend in or around Adelaide to supply and offer advice? Hope this is in the right forum area. You'll probably be hearing more from me as I'm a newbie! Thanks Sonia |

Hi Sonial, Plenty of help available on the forum. What type of media are you looking to use? I used scoria for the bottom 3/4 , which I got from a landscape supplies company at Lonsdale and clay balls on top from the local hydro shop. Not many choices in Adelaide for fish if you are looking for silver perch. Mine were from one aquaponics, others have bought them from interstate fish companies and they get air freighted in. Trout are available from Tooperang. And I think the company at west beach still does Barra. |

Thanks Brian. I'm looking at expanded clay balls for the media. Ideally, I'd like to raise trout but think silver perch might be easier for a beginner. |

Yep, I will go to trout at a later date. But I was thinking the same after reading the forum, silver perch first :-) Clay balls in Adelaide are about $30 for a 45lt bag. Which adds up if you have large beds. |

A change of heart and now going to try trout. Does anyone have a number for Tooperang? The online number always seems to be engaged. Or are there any other suppliers? Many thanks |

Not many options in Adelaide. Keep on trying Tooperang, they are only a small operation. |

Oh not many. Thought about 20. New to aquaponics and have just got 1 IBC to start with. Tooperang currently have fingerlings 3.25 " for 60c and 4" for 60c available. |

If you're looking at a system made from 1 IBC then you probably only want 8-10 trout, especially in a new system. |
