I have just built my first two wicking beds from IBC containers and filled them with compost, worm castings and chook manure that I have been collecting for a while now.
I now want to fill the other four containers but have no more organic waste to fill with so I'm asking what is the best medium to buy to fill them up with?

Actually it sounds like the mix you put into the ones you did earlier is a bit stronger than I would have done (The word soil or mix didn't crop up anywhere :dontknow: ). I would have mixed some of the things you put into the first two beds with some potting mix (most likely) and or garden soil - You want wicking but you also want some air.

Food&Fish, Mattyoga and SOP have the IBC/tub ones going well...
[edit] plus Gunagulla

in mine I went with rock at bottom and shade cloth cover, with mixture of black mulch, pulverised mixed manure, potting mix (general), veg potting mix (manure) plus a bit of 'waste garden soil' all mixed up.

(I didn't have the volume of compost so relied a lot on brought in stuff)

Thanks all, I should have mentioned I did mix in quite a bit of garden soil in there also

I think for the rest I will get a trailer of veggie mix and mix it with mushroom compost from the local garden place

Got the mushroom compost and garden mix together and quite happy with the result
