Hi Guys, I'm a veggie and I'm new to hydroponics/aquaponics. I do not have land space to have a garden. I wanted to used my terrace space. I do not want to go grow fish for consumption purpose. Also, I do not want to use inorganic nutrients for the water. Is there a alternative for the bio cycle possibility without using fish for consumption pupose? Please throw some light on the possibility for a "organic" "Veggie" solution. Thanks. |

Peeponics! Have a read of TCLynx's thread. Many people, myself included, have used peeponics to get a system cycled, but there is no reason you cant continue with it instead of getting some fish. |

You can always raise ornamental fish. In fact from a business standpoint, ornamental fish might be profitable. That way your garden gets the benefit of their nutrients, without eating the fish. Many people raise koi here, but other ornamental fish can be used. |

Almost any form of ammonia will run an AP system, although, there will be a number of nutrients that will be unavailable which will effect plant growth. As Ron has pointed out, you dont need to have edible fish but its highly desirable to have a quality feed input for maximum output. |
