I'm thinking about building a few barrel ponic systems and give them out to family members. I found some cheap barrels/drums that previously held Ethyl Alcoho. Are those safe to use?

I'd say yes - it's volatile (will evaporate) so once it's dry it's gone.

I'd give it a good rinse to be sure, but wouldn't worry about it.

That said, I've no direct experience so please don't take my word for it.

I was thinking the same thing but wanted confirmation from soneone who is familair with the product. Since they are less than $10 each I may just pickup a few anyway. I'm sure i'll make good use of them.

Heck yes it's safe. If there's any left you should pour it into a shot glass, ethyl alcohol, that's just booze by another name. Of course some governments require they spike the kind found in pharmacies so maybe a rinse out would be best :support:

Lots of bacteria can metabolize this so it won't be around long even if there is residue, which, as others have said would evaporate. :headbang:
