Hi,
I,ve recently purchased 3 ibc and an off cut section of an ibc. From that I'm useing 1 as my fish tank and the 4 cut offs as growbeds.
I have 4000 lph pump and contol the flow with bell siphons from each growbed with the water falling into 3 separate sumps( post a photo soon as i know how). Filled the grow beds with volcanic rock and have a few plants growing but no fish yet still breaking it in so as to speak.
My concern is backup and would be happy for suggestions on how to do that. Possible with a battery and automatic charge up and turn on when power fails.

I'm inspired

A fail over switch with deep cycle marine batteries and an inverter can kick in and run your system in a power failure. I had one set up here that worked fine, but I keep using the batteries for my boat. Also we have very few power failures and my systems are not overloaded with fish

Do a search for chainsaws 12 volt backup system. Saved my butt when the power was off for 5 days at the end of February. I also have a cheap generator to run the battery charger and pump for long power outages.

All mentioned in my thread . Cheers

Chainsaws thread is a good one. Another option is a UPS. Thats what I have used for a while.

Hi all

Thanks for your help. I'm looking into it. 1st I'm checking out chainsaws thread. More than likely I'll go that way with the 12volt backup and purchase a small generator for those catastrophic occasions.

much appreciated
