Hi Everyone,

I have a Koi pond (7000 lit) with a biofilter system of a capacity of 400 liter.

The pond contains around 45 kg of fish, yes I know it is an overload, that is the reason I am interested in improving the water quality. As well as a few veggies as a bonus.

The filtered water returns to the pond by gravity.

I am wanting to install a few grow beds in the return flow to the pond.

Any suggestions as to what medium to use in the grow bed ?

What veggies do well in Aquaponics.

I am not sure what media is readily available in South Africa but there are a number of forum members from your part of the world they should be able to advise. From memory Brian Fanner and Francois are from SA do a search on their systems.
As to plants basically anything you can grow in a vege garden over there.
