Just wondering if anyone knew if the Husky 6mil sheeting was fish safe, or food safe? It's obviously not rated for that on it's packaging, but has anyone used it or does anyone abhor it? I'd really like to line some grow beds with this material but do not want to risk it if it is known to be unsafe. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/h ... ft-x-25-ft |

I have experience with that stuff and will attest: No way dude! You will thank yourself in the long run if you use a fish safe pond liner or food-safe rubberized coating. That plastic sheeting will rip/deteriorate quickly and need to be replaced in no time. Save yourself the headache and do it right from the start. |

The portions that are exposed to sunlight will break down as gbock mentioned. It's not nearly as durable as EPDM and for the amount of work involved you should probably skip using the 6mil plastic. Usually as it breaks down it becomes brittle and breaks into small pieces. Other than this it's probably LDPE which shouldn't be a problem for the fish. |

i agree its not something youd want to line anything with as it is not going to last/will rip and tear easily. i do use it for my GH although i know it wont last so i wont be heart broken when it comes time to replace it. |
