I am going to do CF but confused on this issue. I am planning to add an air bubbler to help introduce more air into the water. Comments? Thanks |

my growbeds are flood and drain but could be easily converted to cf, either way, before i filled them with gravel, i put an airline/stone in each gb, as well as multiple stones in my ft and 1 in my sump |

I run without any airstones in the growbeds and it works fine for me. I don't think you really need them but mileage may vary. |

So, no root rot even with constant flood (submerged roots all the time)? |

No, not as long as your water is properly aerated. It's no different than a raft system. |

My system is constantly flooded and has been for over a year now without root rot. As long as there is sufficient oxygen most plants will be fine. The way my system is set up I don't need any extra air pumps, but other setups might need supplementary aeration |
