So the main guy that runs this company had said he has one of the most efficient systems. http://carbonharvestenergy.com/services ... em-design/ now my question, is it the filter system that will make it more effecient or is it the nft part. Mind you I know everyone is going to say theirs is the best, but I have see nft used alot in indoor systems. Not to mention I would think nft is a lot cheaper to build. Ok what are some thoughts.

Couldn't figure the plumbing for the NFT at first... but then watched one of the other videos and it made a bit more sense....

Looks like the NFT tables are movable.... and they'd have to be....

There's been some money pumped into the project.... at least close to $1 million... mainly loans from the city...

But they might be out of business... everything posted goes back around Jul/Aug 2012... and in October... they basically laid off staff...

As to the thread question.... NFT or DWC.... I'd go NFT any time... and I'll think you'll see most of the serious "commercial" builds go that way as well....

Notice... not a media bed in sight....

So at least they seem serious...

Then they should keep their website updated a little better, otherwise many more people will get the wrong impression.. For their aquaponics section they have one regurgitated 3D model and half a dozen sentences of basic AP explanation..

Yeah I am not really sure about how well this company is doing one of their lead engineers did a lecture at a local college in his home town and I watched it on you tube. He is the owner of Laughing Duck Farms, which is suppose to be moving but I guess we will see. Its a cool company and could do some awesome things but I think they might be going a bit too big.

Rupert I am not wanting to make a "commercial" system (yet) but I do want a productive system. I wanted a hybrid at first but the more I think about it I am leaning to NFT. Do you find no value in having a mediabed/filterbed in the system?

In a "commercial" operation....none what so ever...

At home... or a small scale hobby farm... yeah no problems...

I don't think their aquaponics section is that bad ?
They are a "eco friendly" power company explaining how they utilaize all the waste streams, producing power out of landfills

from EPA here http://www.epa.gov/lmop/partners/profil ... gyllc.html
quote:

Description
Carbon Harvest Energy, LLC develops LFG energy projects from collection through energy generation integrated with agricultural systems that fully convert the waste products to valuable green products for the community. Capturing the significant waste heat from power generation to heat aquaculture and greenhouses and the exhaust gases to feed algae cultivation systems for biofuel production takes what was once a waste product to its highest and best use. By partnering with landfill owners and operators, Carbon Harvest Energy offers its partner and their community a powerful social and environmental success story for a facility and land that is otherwise a source of concern. Because of the economic advantages achieved through integrated solutions, Carbon Harvest Energy is able to work with smaller landfills than are commonly sought for LFG energy projects.

they are not in the backyard AP buiz they are running multi million $ projects
It's not AP 4 U scam, so it's not bull Sh1t like you put it, this is the kind of developement I for one welcome and I hope for their sucsess

See thats perfect rupert, just hop across the world to middle USA and build that here :thumbright: Yeah that seems more practical to me. What have you found to be the best materials for the tubing, I have read to use fence post tubing, but yours doesn't look like fencing? Ironically after this post it is back to the drawing board. :blackeye:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHMYUWHCEQk this was the lecture I watched, they are a really cool company and I do hope they figure out their money problems because the idea of using landfills to heat and supply enough energy to run a fully functional greenhouse/AP system is awesome. Don't get me wrong the link I put up I understand where earthbound would think it was BS.

He designed Laughing duck farm? I have seen their stuff many years ago, quite large set up. As I said, they really should update their website, it gives the wrong impression about their AP knowledge and experience, totally.. There are dozens of similar websites that have a similar 1 small page about AP on their website and it's generally a sign they have no idea and generally no experience either..

Interestingly while I was looking up laughing duck farm they have shut their website down ATM, I found this.

http://aquaponicsfaqDOTnet/laughing-duc ... quaponics/ Yep, the same AP4U people..

Yeah see and thats another thing, their filtration systems seem to be what makes their systems "more productive." I was just reading about Nelson Pade's ZDEP system does anyone know anything about? I mean to me its a filter that allows for more bacteria. I could be over simplifying it though.

Earthbound if we were going to go off peoples websites then AP4U has the most awesome site with way more content than most :shifty: hehe it even has a "BUT WAIT ACT NOW" feature to it

Yeah, and there's nothing like those pop ups saying "Are you sure you want to leave this page?"
