Hi, In the past I have eaten various veg that were grown utilising Hydroponics. Not sure if purely psychological but always seemed tasteless and maybe a bit 'watery'. Have not yet had the experience of tasting anything via Aquaponics - although the word 'delicious' & 'tasty' get to be bandied about in 'promotionals'. How is it from those with the experience - good stuff - no fishy tastes ( that one from wife ) etc,etc. Rgds. FS |

I find it too be the same as the dirt garden, with the exception of silverbeet which has taken up the salt that i have put in the fishtank __________________ I was once young and stupid, i'm not so young now |

I have tried Cabbage, Basil, lettuce, and tomatos so far, they all tasted real good. |

The difference between my mate's well managed soil grown tomatoes and those in my AP is seriously chalk and cheese. AP veg takes up a lot more water and are therefore crunchier, juicer and sweeter than other media grown veggies. My cherry toms have earned something of a name for themselves in my circle of friends

Yep just because I use manures in my dirt garden, doesn't make the vege taste like s#!* I find the produce from my backyard is guaranteed fresher than anything I could buy from a shop, and you can almost taste the love that has gone into growing it! |

Before i moved house i picked all my capsicums and chucked them in the fridge. 5 weeks later they were still fresher than what was in the shops. |

I read once that plants have feeder roots and drinker roots and that feeder roots do better with colloidial humus (a suspended form of liquid) and that liquid feeding them is not the best way. Bit skeptical on this one but it was an interesting read. Thanks for the encouraging words though. This is exactly why I'm venturing into AP, because Mantis always has good produce and got me on the train. I'm happy that yours and others experiences proves it. |
