I'm excited now. I dowlnloaded the IBC PDF ages ago and lost heart at ever finding any. Been looking alll over the place locally but had no luck.

Now I came across a farmer who is quite ecological and told him exactly what I wanted to do with two old IBCs he had lying near his farm and he was very interested. His had food in them - for cattle, so the IBCs will need very little cleaning. He is rselling them at theor empty value of 50 Euros each, which seems okay.

My next question is this. Once I get the first IBC home, what will be my next part of the kit? How did the others before me go about getting the pumps, pipes et all?

i figured out where i was going to put the system, laid it all out, then i took apart the IBC frames and removed the bladder, measured and cut according to my plans..
i cut the bladder and the frame - not at the same time!
you might want to put them in place to get an idea of how you will work (planting and harvesting) the system to make sure you have room
Good luck, take lots of pics, and ask for help when the need arises.. this is the friendliest ap forum in the world

keith - thanks! btw i remember singing a song in North Wales about the Erie Canal yonks ago! I now live near the Bavarian Alps. we get bitter winters here - down to minus 20. Seems looking at your thread that I will have similar issues.

I think it's the pump I am looking at sourcing next. If you live where I do - all done in German - it is a pretty uphill struggle here!

Try aquarium shops for your pumps and see if they have a irrigation supply company for pipes and fittings if you are in a farming area. Could always go back and ask the farmer where he buys his irrigation supplies.

Start up a thread in Members systems and post photos or drawings of your system which will allow members to give better advise. Cheers and welcome
