I am very interested in aquaponics and I have an old 30 gal aquarium that I want to start out using with a raft system but cannot find some answers to these questions.
So I thought with all of the experience here you all could help me with them..
I am planning to build a pvc greenhouse later to house an ibc tote system like a CHOP2.
So I thought I would start out with a raft system to grow lettuce on first to get experience.
The fish will be Tilapia, we have 20 of them that are hand size and was being given away… I am going to only put 5 or 6 in this tank.
So here goes with the questions..

What size of container ( length, width, and depth ) for a Raft system with a 30 gal aquarium.
How do you setup the plumbing for the container of a raft system.
What is the water flow rate from the ft to the raft grow bed.
Can rockwool medium set in the raft system without a net pot.
How deep does the rockwool medium have to be in the water.
I hope you that are experts can help me and thanks for it...

Hi Reddog :wave1:

Here is a link that might give you some clues about growing in a raft. There are some pictures showing good growth, so I guess it worked. Markcasos' CHIFT PIST style system features in the IBC of aquaponics if you'd like more info http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/compo ... onics.html
