Gulp... I will Google Gambusia and see if they match.
There are several species in there. When we caught them a guy said some we had were bony bream. We initially lost a few but they have more than made up the numbers since.
One variety moved via the pipes to the next FT in the row and set up house with my Goldfish. I think the ones that moved are "Rainbows" . I have now moved the goldies to another tank cos I think they were using one anothers babies as food. They are a different shape and pretty with red and white on the fins. I started with 2 and now have about 25 of them.
Pity they are not edible.

Hard to say about the others with the red and white on the fins, without a photo, but I'd guess they are either rainbow fish (native) or blue-eyes (also native). I'd suggest the latter if they've been breeding easily.

However, the ones you have in the photo there are definitely Gambusia, which also breed like rabbits.

They are certainly good breeders.. When we caught them we were hoping for Blue eyes but I don't think that is what we got.
They were all tiny when we caught them, about 7-8mm. LOL.
Now I don't know what to do with the feral ones
I accidentally caught one of the others (rainbows)
today when I was moving the Goldies but didn't have my camera with me .

He would want them filletted first.

If I put them in a dish I think the kookaburras would make quick work of them, BUT, I don't want to give them ideas.
We lose a few to snakes already.

I have grown carrots garlic ginger and oregano dont like wet feet so you can do one of 2 things either put more gravel in to raise the bed 3inches above the water level or drop the water level by 3 by modifying the drainage to suit.... also in the root crop growbed better to have your water coming in at one spot and making the bed moist from beneath rather then watering all over the top I found watering on top made tham all rot

Normal ginger seems to grow OK...

I have lifted all the coir pots up now so the bottoms (With the gravel) just touch the water at its highest level. They are sitting on bricks and drain freely.
We have had several warm dry days in a row and the top of the coir is now just barely moist.
Spent the whole day today trying to catch all the feral fish. . Every time I thought they were all out I spotted a couple more.
Finally finished up using a torch as it was pitch dark LOL.
I realised the little suckers were disappearing into the pipes connecting the tubs and re-emerging when they figured the coast was clean.
