Hi all long time no see. I did a talk at the local redlands organic growers association about 2 weeks back. One of the people there is growing lillys and Jade perch in his dam but has a ph 8. He wants to know how to safely lower the ph. Any help would be welcomed. He used vinigsr but it killed his plants!!!

how large is the dam ?

It may be that the pH is driven by the bed material of the dam if it is earth/clay bound.
In which case only a liner would be viable to change the system.

Low pH (not your issue) can often be addressed by adding lime and things like hay/straw.

What is the primary source of pH (limestone area, hard water etc ?)

In a large pond/tank the easiest is to do it using hydrochloric acid.
Mix and introduce it continuously in a side tank not just throw it in.
HCL is pretty inert since products likely to be CaCl, NaCl etc.

Adding some iron might help (depends on water chemistry)
