LOL. Well the thing is dude, that there are as many configurations as there are people in the world to put it together. Pick something that will work for you and build it.

Your system will be yours and yours alone. There will be fish, there will be plants. Give it a shot.

You can always change it later if it doesn't work out. And then expand it.

Yes the beauty and the curse of this place. So many great ideas flying around that it can be hard to decide but this place can also help save you from making costly mistakes.

If you post some pictures of your space and materials people might be able to add some more tips but eventually you will just need to get started and almost all of us make some mistakes on our first systems and learn some things we want to do differently.

Are you human?: Some times I wonder

Set it up so the fish tank is the highest point and drain to Grow beds not the sump. Sump needs to be the lowest one. SLO in fish tank removes solids in bottom to grow beds for filtration. That leaves the pump in the sump pumping clean water and not small fish and fish poo.

I signed up for a one day seminar at "MorningStar Fisheries" this coming Saturday in Florida. I'm trying to gain as much knowlege as i can prior to cutting my first IBC or pvc pipe. Unfortunately i do not have an endless budget for this so i'd like to do it as correctly as possible the first time. But like many have said there will always be changes etc. but as the whole system goes it should be a sound design i feel. I will report back with anything differernt from them as to what i've been reading here.

p.s. I think i've read just about every post here till my eyes bled.....................

Just keep in mind that the methods at MorningStar may be very different from what most people here do. It's been a while since I was over at MorningStar though so they might have some new/different things going on.

Their primary method has usually been Raft or DWC growing but that can work. I'm not available to give any tours here this weekend but let me know if you want to stop by up here some other time. I'm North of Orlando, up in Mount Dora.
