how much salt, and what is the best kind of salt should I add to my 1000L tank to reach 1.0 ppm? Thanks for the help! |

1kg of pool salt will get 1000L to 1ppt.. |

Make sure you dissolve it in a bucket of your FT water before adding |

There's nothing wrong with dissolving the water in a bucket first Charlie... many people do... Whether or not it's necessary is more the point... personally, like F&F... I just dump it in the tank... I've seen the Silvers go and have a bit of a scratch before it all dissolves.... |

I went and bought a bag of solar dried salt crystal for about 4 bucks and a hydrometer that shows salinity ppt/ specific gravity. When I tested my system's water (came from the hose) it showed 12 ppt/ 1.08 specific gravity. My question is do i want ppt to be at 1.0 or specific gravity to be at 1.0? |

dang you mean your tap water has 12 ppt of salt already in it? |

Yes I pulled water straight from the tap, it read 12ppt/ 1.o specific gravity. Once again, am I looking to have 1 ppt or 1 specific gravity? |
