What type of bottom material would you suggest for an aquaponics fish tank. These tanks are all 55 gal drums and I would like if it would be a good idea to add some type of bedding to the bottom of my tanks. Thank you, Gil Jones

None would be my guess. Substrate will capture solids and you want your pump to get those solids to your growbed. But I'm a rookie at this.

most people put no substrate in their aquaponics fish tanks, and i would recommend against it unless you have a very good reason.

And if you do use substrate you need to vacuum it periodically to remove solids and prevent aenarobic zones from forming.
