Anyone have any experience with having GB's outside in an area that receives a lot of rain? Also, what about FRS vs NTF vs GB in regards to outside(uncovered) production? I am only going to have 200 sq ft of greenhouse space and was wondering about adding additional space outside. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I think most of have our GB's unsheltered from the rain. It is possible for large amounts of rain to drop the PH (rain being acidic) and sometimes cause problems... but it would have to be a large amount. Usually fish deaths after rain is caused by water run off from toxic locations such as guttering and certain roof materials. |

We have had about 10" over the last month. Equally concerned about dropping nutrient ratio. Going to start in house and then maybe expand a bed outside and see how that goes. I've seen some large commercial projects that have outside grow areas, so I know it's feasible. Also know that larger systems have larger margins of error, just like garden ponds and aquariums, and my system is now going to have an additional 250 gallon sump. From my initial research, it looks like i can keep plants growing with seaweed extract and some added Lime(Calcium H), P, and Iron. Then the fish should be large enough to help out and get the system more stable. |

All my various systems over the years have been outside.... uncovered... And it rains quite hard here... don't worry about it... Attachment: 100_6908 (Custom).JPG [ 112.02 KiB | Viewed 4469 times ] |
