Came across a good doc that covers different types of siphons in-depth. http://www.japan-aquaponics.com/Articles/DIY-Aquaponics-Plumbing-Guide-Bell-Siphons.pdf zp. |

It didn't have Affnan siphons... If you are going to siphon, it is the only way to go! |

It's covered - he shows the bell siphon with the reducer and contributes it to Affnan - he just refers to it as a bell siphon for the rest of the doc. |

There is a link there to Affnan Siphons.....at the end. A lot of good info, would save a lot of effort to just give this link each time someone has a Siphon problem. |

I have been using affnan siphons in my GH AP system for over 2 1/2 years... not one single problem.... I am running timed flood and drain.... and CF at least once a week for 4+ hours... if your going to run a siphon, affnan is the way to go JT |

Yeah nice info from a quick scan through.... I have to laugh though, these siphons are simple aren't they, only a 9 page document in depth document explaining how they work.. |

They are simple to make though - and mine have been extremely reliable. |

Not always simple...... Sometimes they take hours hours of mucking around and playing with them to get them working.. |

Adjusting the flow to get them to trigger and stop? That is the fun part while drinking a beer (or beverage of your choice) waiting for the bed to fill/empty and enjoying your AP setup. |

I've never had a problem getting my beds to flood & drain... ever... Takes all of about 5 minutes to program the timer... |
