I was talking about pipes not pumps and yes I agree. When many of us give advice it is almost always from a point of view that:


I've never really felt the need to state the last bit because I thought it was obvious and always seems like a sort of unstated insult and I would be afraid that it would come accross as:



So often the advice we offer beyond the basics is about improving performance or efficiency and not about getting things to work or not work. That means that people can do all sorts of weird and wacky things and they will work. That is not a problem, its all good diverse fun. The problem is when they come back and start saying that something is best/better without any qualifications

Bcasey has had enough advice about his pump to know what we think. Even though using the DTBA CHOP 2 design his system will most likely work with only the normal" problems that everyone has to deal with a some time or other. While some things are not "better" than others they still work. Plus my experience at the Ballarat hatchery where there is so much crap in the water you can't see the fish has shown me just how much it seems you can get away with.

Even if someone does try some crazy idea against our advice we will be supportive afterwards and help clean up the mess if there is any. Even if they are obnoxious about it I'll do my best not to respond in kind because that would make me obnoxious in turn.

That's why I like this forum!
