Are you going to be employing siphons, or "natural" F&D through standpipes?

Ehh...no.

do I need to do a diagram?

Yes

Although to give you some piece of mind:

A 65mm pipe is ~equivilent to 6.75 25mm pipes
A 90mm pipe is ~equivilent to 13 25mm pipes

The pipes I am mainly talking about are the returns from GB's. I said they were 150mm, but that is yet t be determined.

Just remember everyone I was asked.

Capacity of pipes is proportional to the square of their area. a=d^2 x pi / 4

Area of a:

:funny1: 25mm pipe is ~0.000491m2
:funny1: 90mm pipe is ~0.006362m2

0.006362/0.000491=12.96

I'm glad everyone is still talking nicely in this thread. I guess that I should have made it a little clearer about the chart link. Maybe the better way to post a link that others "might" feel is useful is to preface it with something like the following:

"Use of this link is at user's own risk. Failure to understand the purpose or engineering behind said link is not the fault of the original poster of said link...If there is any question or misunderstanding about anything read in said link then please take some time to post a reply to this thread in the hopes that someone will clarify for you. Enjoy"

I do appreciate all of the comments from Stuart, BCasey, Backhoe and Slowboat. :)

Bcasey,

Playschool version a site showing litres per minute flow rates for different sizes and class (thickness) of PVC piping.

OF INTEREST: Doubling a pipe's internal diameter increases the volume x4 and if the same head pressure is maintained, the flow rate increases roughly x6. According to this site.

Indeed you did Stuart. Only difference is play-school version is easier to understand for most of us. :D

Yes but I think that 18 KLtrs/ hour is bigger however not better
I'm sure BCasey you would benefit from having a smaller pump.
With that one you are hitting 300 l per minute that's an IBC in 3 minute 20 seconds
You could actually run that on timed flood and drain 13 minutes to exchange all the what're in your 4 fish tanks.

I think your system will look impressive but I think you will be running quite a risk with all that grow bed area open to public.
People tip things into running water. They can't help themselves.
Mind you I suppose a cup of coffe in 5000 Ltrs of water won't make a big deal.

Good luck I will be interested in coming to your cafe when it opens, are you going to have a big opening day?
I have said somewhere in one of your posts if you need help if be willing to pitch in.

Thanks Eric

Yeah I know my pump is crazy, but as I've posted before it works for me for a myriad of reasons. I agree it's overkill, but I like and I'm sticking to it ahaha.

I will post rest of response on my thread, told myself I wouldn't be hijacking this thread anymore :/
