Sorry but I cringe sometimes at the useless information given to new bys
For goodness sake if giving information to newbies make shore its right
I am not going to detail it
End of rant

For myself, I appreciate correction to misconceptions I have. If I'm way off, I'd rather find out because I was told than because I found out the hard way (or worse, encouraged someone else to make a costly mistake). I would also rather hear about different methods or suggestions if I've asked a question, and like lots of others here I'm learning too. Although we're pretty experienced aquarists, applying that knowledge to aquaponics is sometimes challenging.

Maybe a quiet pm to someone who gave bad advice so they can learn too, or correction in the thread? Or pm to the OP?

I'm with velvet. I'm new, but spend WAY, WAY, WAY too much time researching, and at times am on the threads a bit (other times I'm not at all ahaha), and I like to give advice as to my level of understanding, especially if I think something has been missed, or no one has responded.

Though I mostly put the caveat emptor of my newbie experience level, and ask for more experienced members to chime in. Like Velvet it is then good to be corrected if that ain't true.

I do understand where you are coming from, even I at my "newb" level see advice which is poo, or slanted to their own opinion, but don't know whether to chime in.

I think it's a good idea to correct bad info, or at least offer a different perspective or opinion on something. It can often help to create a better discussion and can promote better understanding. I think it's an important thing on a forum where you have a steady stream of newcomers.

If I'm spouting garbage information, please correct me! The last thing I'd want is to create drama and cause problems for someone. And vice versa, too!

I am also of this school of thought. If I have been researching something and then pass this on to others, I would have thought it better to have a more experienced person point this out (like Stu did with me and the air lift pumps) When bad information is not corrected, it then is assumed to be true and passed on.
