I am after a large 12 inches across or more cast iron camp oven in the Perth region. I am sure someone must have one kicking around their shed or backyard somewhere they want to part with. If so PM me with a contact number and I will get back to you. Cheers, Mike |

Was cleaning mine about the same time you posted last night I'd try cash converters and look for the ones that have the large upward lip in the lid |

I have a spun steel bedourie but want to try and find an old cast one to use with it. I could go buy a new one but the old ones tend to have better castings. |

And better taste if they have been seasoned right

Yeah, the ones with feet are rare - don't think I've seen a new one with feet. |

Mine was my grandmothers when she was a teenager so it's about 90+ years old now and still going strong - still gets used several times a year. |

I think Billman are the only ones who still cast ovens here in Aust. You can order one with your name and location cast into the top along with the general Billman info, pretty cool but I don't have a spare $300 for one I have a spun steel bedourie that I bought new about 20 years ago but am keen to get a cast one. I am also going to build a permanent fire pit, keyhole shape in my front yard to cook on and sit around one day |

Just came home from a visit to BCF to get the gas bottle refilled and out of interest had a look for camp ovens. They have 2, 4.5, 9 and 10 litre CI camp ovens with the upturned lid for stacking coals, for $26, $48, $79 and $99 resp. approx. They are Aussie made and Pre-seasoned. They also have Cast Iron pans, kettles and large Dixies. Good value I think, Our 10 litre camp Oven is about 15 years old now and is great for Margaret's stews and chowders. Cheers IanK |

Yep, they work very well because of all the holes, plus my BBQ plate and grill plate from an old weber fits. I may try to build a chimeny for it one day but have numerous other projects on the go |
