HI fish people,

Have 2 goldfish living happily, am ready to add trout or silver perch, I gather it might be too late in the season to add trout, (ie not long enough to grow them up before the heat of summer) is it too early to get silver perch?

Any suggestions where to buy silver perch at the moment?

Oh yeah, any ideas where to buy food for them too?

I bought trout food for some ill-fated trout in Autumn, but I'll keep that for another day,
I gather silver perch don't eat trout food

Silver perch will be happy to eat trout feed, I can't help you with getting fish over there though.. Some Melbournians are bound to have an idea though.

If you're planning on Perch in the next month or so... you'll need to find someone who has over-wintered stock from last years spawn...

New season spawn wont be available before probably January at the earliest...

If all else fails contact Monya in SA.... www.thefishfarm.com.au

I'm sure he could arrange to air freight orders to you... I think he has a "few"...

I bought good Murray Cod from Glenburn last year and will get some Silvers in six weeks or so with luck. I got 30kg 2mm and 30kg 6mm Barra/trout feed couriered from The Haymarket at Ballarat to Elmore in Nthn Vic.

John sells good cheap food, along with about 5 varieties of fish. All native. Tandanus, silver perch and murray cod being the favourites on this forum

thanks F&F I've had a few recommendations to Glenburn - am heading out this Saturday to pick some sp up. Will check his food out too.

Hope they have a happier time than the trout!! :flower:
