Post subject:  Red Wrigglers in Perth - Pay it backwards please!
Over the last few years I've given many people red wrigglers for their systems and now I'm in a position where I could do with some myself. If any of you are reading this and could see your way to dropping a few off at the shop in Belmont in passing, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't need a heap, a dozen or so would be great, but even just half a dozen would do the job.

Ive got worm stations all around the garden I feed them to my Cod through the winter so go through heaps .

My local "Wild" earth worms are as big and as thick as a pencil ive had a couple of attempts at breeding them in isolation with out much luck would love to have a couple of thousand of them available .

Yep!... For years I had a 60sqm organic veg garden, a cold compost heap, and a worm farm always on the go, but in the last couple of years I haven't had time for them, so the worms have moved out. The kids little single barrel AP system also had worms in it, but I've shut down and dismantled that as well, they're in their mid teens now, so weren't interested in it any longer.

I've scratched around the backyard in all the likely spots and can't find one. This late start to winter and lack of rain isn't helping.

I did keep about a dozen from the shop display system when I dismantled it recently, but had to store them in a container full of damp exp' clay for a couple of days until the new system was ready. In the meantime they decided they didn't like their digs and crawled out, all bar one. I'm sure that he/she will find him/herself attractive enough to repopulate the system, but I just want to hurry the process along, as well as add some genetic diversity.

I wish I could send some but doubt they would survive an 11,000-mile trip even if I knew how to ship them there. But for readers in the US, this is my recent experience.

Like Mr. Damage I was looking for enough to get a colony started. Was about to order from Uncle Jim's through Amazon but decided to check first with the local USDA Agricultural Extension Agent. An email to him resulted in an email introduction to a gardner with a reputation as the local worm lady. She ended up giving me a shoebox full of soil, castings, cocoons, and Red Wigglers in every phase of their life cycle; more than enough to start a thriving colony of my own.

Looking forward to the opportunity to pay it forward, backward, or sideways. :)
