FREE 1,000 gallon tank. Roughly 5 ft wide, 6 1/2 ft tall. Has 19 inch forklift split on bottom, repairable with plastic welding.

After something like 4 or 5 years (I honestly forget how long), I've finally come to the realization that I'm never going to get around to fixing it, even though it should be obvious I've "started to" a couple of times.

I put it on Craigslist for $200 OBO, but got no nibbles. Nothing.

So I tried to reach out to Adam over at Green Phoenix to see if he wanted it, but apparently he's moved to New Mexico (Adam, if I've got that wrong, please correct me!).

So I'm tired of it. It's in the way. My most recent thought was to cut a door into it and turn it into a chicken coop, but I decided against it.

Someone skilled at plastic welding should be able to repair this thing just fine, and I once had a guy in Dallas quote me $300 to do it, but I didn't have it done.

FREE for the taking. Seriously. No strings attached.

Just let me know when you'd like to head to Frisco to come pick it up.

I'll even help with throwing it back over my fence and loading it. I got it into my backyard by myself, but I do not relish the idea of attempting that again.

Note: It once held a food-safe component of a packaging plastic in gel form (I don't know the name), and I got it from the packaging plant specifically because they'd accidentally broken it with their forklift.

Trivia: If you go into Google Earth (not Google Maps), and search on the following coordinates:
32.934306°,-96.913587°, then use use the "Show Historical Imagery" (the clock) tool to roll back the calendar to 3/31/2011, you can see my blue tank on the railroad tracks outside the packaging plant in Carrollton, TX, from whence it came.

Thanks, and yes I'm looking for someone a tiny bit closer I think...

I can scarcely believe I've gotten no (local) interest in this or the four IBC totes I'd like to give away.

The four totes are still available, by the way...

I was talking to david (adam's dad) at the dfw meetup a couple weekends ago.. and from what i gather adam got the job of his dreams in new mexico. He will be teaching aquaponics at a college there and has a significant grant to build a new facility.

David is still running green phoenix farms.

I will shoot you a PM about getting some (or all) of the ibc totes. I do have a use for them. The water tank, i dont think i can fix. I did buy a plastic welder to tinker with fixing some blue barrels i would like to repuprose but there's a big difference in the pressure a 55 gallon blue barrel weld will need to withstand vs the bottom of a 1000 gallons.

Cool, thanks for the Green Phoenix update, and I replied to your PM.

Thanks again!

very cool thanks. There are only a few colleges in Santa Fe so ... http://www.sfcc.edu/programs/greenhouse_management maybe. It gives me great comfort to see the local schools doing these types of programs. I was getting a tad cynical when our Las Vegas (NM) community college which sent two friends and me to the Other Power Axial Flux Wind Turbine http://www.otherpower.com/learningcurve.html seminar in Colorado, soon dropped all their sustainable practices programs and changed to homeland security type police action courses. Yeah I was discouraged. We need to tech something positive to young people, imho, for whatever that is worth.

I think that is the course. David said it was going to be about greenhouse managements. i suppose in the context greenhouse management of aquaponics.. but i would be surprised if the its not more general to any type of greenhouse agriculture.

From my understanding, the position became available because the original professor was recruited to work in the commercial marijuana industry in Colorado.

The placement for these types of lets say trade school classes may not end up being in the food production industry because the economics are still in niche industries.

It will be interesting to see how it works out. Aquaponics needs more traditional research and teaching as opposed to the backyard cowboy seminars to mature as an agricultural practice.

Capitalism makes our world go doesn't it?
As much as I wish I could have listened to my older brother's generation and "Turn on, tune in, drop out," we all need to feed our families and keep our own wheels turning. I told myself, and frankly anyone who'd listen, when I turned 50 that I was going to make the next fifty years of my life more about not being surprised by the way things are. One must ask, "How's that working out for ya?" Ha, like another snappy comeback I missed, duh? He's outstanding in the pot field. Of course right now that's where the money is. Well, I hope it inspires more young people into learning about agriculture and jobs.

Shelgeyr,

I am in Clifton, Texas. - about 100 miles away or so.
I would love to come get the tank and the IBC totes. In fact, I'll offer to pay - if you don't want any payment, I'll donate to a charity of your choice. My cell is 25four- 74four - 4O82

Thanks,
Linc

LincTex sorry I didn't respond yesterday - I was at the "Great State Fair of Texas", which is also my excuse for why I'm getting such a slow start this morning.

You are welcome to the tank. I'm giving bcotton the 4 totes because he was first in line HOWEVER I believe I have two totes at the Frisco location (where the big tank is) that I can let you have.

Thank you for offering to pay for them, and of course I'd be happy to take a tip, but they ARE free because that's what I'd previously committed to. No tip or payment is expected and there will be no hard feelings if you drive away with them for free, so do as you wish.

I will call your number (above) as soon as I can get outside and let you know the "free totes" number at this location so you can decide if it is worth your while.

Thanks!

Let's do it later this week or weekend, whichever works best for you. Just not tomorrow - I'm sick as a dog (sinus infection, I think) and have zero strength at the moment.

Thanks!
