Anyone in Perth want some Tilapia?

The Tilapia that Johhnie7au kingly gave me 2-3 months ago have been breeding like crazy and I've been putting the young outside in a couple of different tanks and systems. Now the weather is beginning to cool down they will start to suffer and I need to do something with them.. Does anyone want some?

They will need to be kept warm over winter, possibly indoors, but if kept warm over winter they will get to breeding size by the time next summer rolls around, and you will have your own fingerlings..

Pm me or post here if you're interested.

Hi Joel ...

I know that you are 100 % environmentally aware .. etc.. etc...

Make sure that people who take these are 100 % aware of the noxious nature of these fish! They are not good for dams close to rivers in Australia. Heavy fines are associated with these wonderful fish if they impact on the environment.

I am so glad that they bred up for you! 8) 8)

Any pan size yet? .. (Mine are a little stunted due to the small footprint of the wheelie bin system I am using.)

Pan size in 6 months should be easy if the footprint is fairly good!

It has been years since I tasted them! So , Lemme know when we can have a cook up! (Few beers too!)

Hi Joel ..

Got any pics of the big ones?

I know that you have more space in your ponds than I do .. therefore better growth.

I would be interested to see how you rate these fishies...

I'll get some pics soon Johnie, na, they aren't poan size yet, they are spending too much time breeding and not enough time eating and growing.. I'm very interested to see how they will go over winter..

No worries ...

I have got a couple of big males .. but not yet pan size...

but If I had a BIG heated pond .. 25 - 28 deg C ....

I imagine these fish would grow massive in no time at all!

I think space, temperature and population denisty has a big effect regards stunting.... despite how well fed they are.

Amazing fish though!

Joel,
You still need to get rid of some of those Tilapia?
