Once again our spawning season is very late by normal fish farm standards, ie eastern states start late october, november, we start January and this year, February.
I have stocked larvae into the ponds, so all things being equal, we should have fish available at 50mm in approx 6 - 8 weeks.

Prices are unchanged from last year, in fact a little cheaper. $125 per 100 for quantities of 100 or more. $1.50 each for smaller quantities and a minimum order of $50.
We can ship to all parts of SA on bus and truck freight, plus interstate on the plane. We can't ship to WA, see Troutman if you are over there.

Any interested people can send me a pm or email me stuarthaberfield at bigpond.com. Ph 0408 612775

Been a good year over here and I dont see there being a shortage of Silvers again for quite some time. As I started spawning in December I have fish ready to go now and will be doing a delivery run up to Perth next week if anyone's interested.

Cool
HOw did you go with tadpoles this year. Remember 2 years ago they were a nightmare here. I have been removing all frogspawn as it is laid around the edges of the pond with a net to help keep the tadpole population to a minimum

Really, really good monya, I have taddies in all my water bodies, except the main swimming pool. We have an inflatable pool set up on the back verandah for Tia, the Staffy, though Brad the pig loves it too. Thanks for asking Stu :)
They are also here in our still pond with waterlillies and bred like crazy in the channel out the back where we setup the DWC system, then the duck family came, and then the herron, it has dried up now that summer is here.

Do silvers / trout/ barra eat tadpoles?

(currently in Rajkot, back in the sand dunes in 2 weeks)

Tadpoles very bad this year though I do trap them and feed them to the Trout in the dam and also the Barra seem to luv them, the dog has even been eating them (makes a good change from dead trout or silvers) when I pour bucket loads into the paddock.
Must remember to remove the eggs next year, be interested to see if it makes much of a difference for you.

I reckon it will have to make a difference. Re getting rid of them... I had a young guy working here for a while and we did a fingerling harvest toghether the year we had possibly 100000 taddies in the larvae pond. They were huge too, mostly about 60mm long... I offered him $20 to eat one.... down the hatch it went... so all we need is about 100000 Brads to eat a taddie each!

Might be better business to sell the frogs .

Stu - I thought you would know that the number one rule is not to sprogspawn in your pond. Isn't that what you have my shorts for .
