Gday gang,

I have a mate who has a green BYAP courtyard system for sale in Perth, he wants $1200 for it. PM me for details.

On another note, I'm going for the world record trout over summer record again this year. Last year I got them until January 29, when I took the last of them out. Will update you on my progress.

Just looked at your thread where you gloated about it but there was no photo proof. You also mention that your tank is 1800 litres.

My 5000 litre tank got up to 26 during the last bout of hot days and it is covered in 90% shadecloth as it the vacant space on the growbeds plus the entire system is under a shade enclosure.

What are you doing to keep the temp down. Supply some proof or I call BS.

I got my first lot of trout right through a summer... but basically couldn't feed them... and they basically didn't grow...

What's the point....

Oh... and "eagles" trout have probably got through 2-3 summers... and now weigh 3-4kg...

So your "world record attempt" ... isn't even close...

I had 1 trout left in my FT and pulled him out today to check. Have been running 23-27deg for a few weeks now. It was still alive but had some major damage. One eye was all festered and blind and he had a lot of damage or disease to the body.

Didnt make me feel to good about dragging it out.

It is nicer to harvest fish while they are healthy and you can experience the pleasure and joy of eating them. Better that you got it it Charlie than have it get sicker just to see how long it would survive. There us a lesson in that for everyone :) With some people it like a game of deal or no deal and they risk losing them all.

Yes people need to think about getting trout out if they still have them here in WA.. Had another call from someone this morning who lost all of his.. But this was mainly his own fault.. He'd been turning the system off in the middle of the day to try and keep the water a bit cooler. Yesterday he'd just turned it back on again and the power went out. He had to go out briefly and figured he'd be back in 5 minutes so wouldn't bother getting the generator out. Got back a couple of hours later and they were all dead...

I had a similar call this morning too.
Was it Derek from Busselton?

Wouldn't like to name names now TM........ :)
Not entirely sure what he has done with his systems and what he has set up in the end, he's been adding and playing...

Hey crew - yes I am definitely one for not wasting fish and also for harvesting them in peak condition. However I think its also worth seeing what your system is capable of so pushing the boundaries here and there is a good thing...as long as no living thing suffers for it.

My trout are happy as larry, I'm only feeding them once every 3 days but they attack the feed with gusto, they swim around happily and the couple that I did take out for tea on the weekend were in perfect nick.
