It's got different cutouts to ours...

Then someone has cut the plastic name plate out of one of our big 500L growbeds and screwed it onto the side of the unit.. Why would someone cut out a good growbed just to add our name to it.... :dontknow:

Well someone obviously realises that the Backyard Aquaponics name has value....

But the lengths the defrauding scumbag has gone to... are extraordinary....

Looks a bit like the ones Bundaberg Plastics were doing, about 5 years ago. Seen them at the Garden Show in Nambour years ago and thats what got me interested in AP.

Has it been moulded from an original BYAP balcony sys or has it been made from scratch? Its hard to tell other than the windows. Do you sell them in that colour EB?

I was thinking it was a BYAP Balcony System with larger access added.

Yeah it was definitely one of ours, might have belonged to the guy who used to make our units, he would have had scraps and a few old reject beds around..

This is a strange unit..

That is strange. I wonder where that pic is taken. One of those could provide a large volume of GB but your growing area is very limited. Might be good for a few fruit trees or something. But wow, imagine digging the media back out if you had to move or clean the bed. Might fair better as a fish tank although Im not too excited about square or rectangle fish tanks.

I saw those and the only use I could think of was a fish tank for narrow area's. I don't think it would make a really good grow bed if that was the intention.

I have seen it up and running, its out the back of Giggiganup. He uses the rectangular troughs for solids removal with the use of brushes, bio filtration and also grows some aquatic plants in them. The water flows thru the whole lot of them before being returned to the tanks. Its actually quite a good set up he has out there and thats only a small part of it.

Actually they would be great for brush filter tanks.

Hey Gav, are they closing down or is the gumtree add just for components they are building and selling? Assuming the latter.

I dont think he is closing down, in fact when i was out there a couple of months back they were only talking of future expansion plans. They already have many ponds and a massive shed which I think was going to house a future RAS.
They had heaps of tanks and other poly products laying about all over the place, most of which looked brand new. Maybe they bought lots at a cheaper price with the intention of selling some off later.
