G'day Gav!

I'm new to the forum. I live in lake clifton not to far from bunbury, have a largish aquaponics system in progress at the moment, approx. 10000L tank, the system has cycled but I'll still wait abit until I put more fish in...is a deep buried tank to keep water temp more steady, has a 40L/min air pump hooked up and a continous flow 10000L/hr pump creating continous cycle...what do I need to make sure before putting any trout in? and is it possible to come and check out your place, just out of interest and to learn more...:) where abouts in bunbury are you? and how much are the trout this year?

cheers mate

Hello Troutman, do you deliver to the door? if so what is the minimum and how much? I live in Ellenbrook, as it is a little bit out of town, only need about 40 - 50

Regards

Coopa

I'm tempted to get 100 trout on the 16th. Would this be overboard? I guess there are about 70 surviving SPs. The largest are maybe 10cm but going down to smaller than that.

I would put the silvers back into the 1000L tank and the trout in the 3000L.

Would 100 be too many? I have 4 byap growbeds.

I will have to get plenty of good food, of course. (The silvers have been fed mainly on Glenn Forrest pellets, which they pretty much ignore).

Get skretting 4mm 40%, Silvers love it, so do trout.

100 Trout would do very well in your system. Just make sure you have plenty of air leading up to October / November.

Good food seems to make all the difference Dazed.
I would normally recommend 100 trout for 4 beds but not when there is already 70 silver perch in there unless you want to monitor and keep tabs on the system as the fish mature.
Perhaps 50-70 trout would be safe. I reckon if you keep the feed up to them you can get bigger fish and safely.
You do not want to overlaod the system at the expense of the fish, play safe I would say.
