I need to relocate my established BYAP system from Toodyay to Perth (Midland area) within the next 3 to 4 weeks (4 grow-beds, 1x 1,000L tank, 1 x 3,000L tank). I plan to ditch the 3,000L tank due to lack of space.
I have the option of storing the larger tank at a third location until I can sell it. However, I'm interested possibly swapping it for a second 1,000L tank with anyone who is willing to pick up the 3,000L tank from Toodyay. You could drop the 1,000L tank of in Toodyay or at the new location. I'll also consider other offers to swap or buy.
I'd also be grateful for any advice on how to make the relocation successful and easy. For example I'll need to cut and rearrange the pipe work for the new layout. Do I need to leave newly glued joins for a minimum length of time to avoid poisoning the fish?
Current set up Installed by BYAP a few years ago in an existing shade house. - 1 x 3,000L tank + pump - 1 x 1,000L tank + pump - 4 x GBs with stands - Fish: about a dozen elderly SPs never harvested, just keeping the plants going.
Planned set-up Parallel to fence on north side of house. Chift-pist. No roof. - 4 GBs end to end with tanks below. - 1 x IBC as sump. - 1 (or 2) x 1,000L tank(s) as main fish tank(s) I've already relocated one GB and set it up above the IBC, (IBC buried so that only the top 20cm is above ground). Fish: The elderly SP's, plus more fish. Not sure what yet but harvesting fish is a low priority compared to the plants. I wondered about trying to get a breeding population of native mossie eaters.
Cheers, Dave
