People should always be wary when using second hand materials. Many blue drums are only used once and you can see what has been in them by their labeling, often it can be food products or acids that can easily be washed out. Always be careful with second hand items if you plan on growing food in it.

Just because it is a food product or additive does not make it safe, I have a green 20 litre drum I use to carry water in for my timbermill. I picked it up on the side of the road, still had the label on it and smelt very much like chocolate. Turns out it was some chocolate syrup concentrate but if you read just the safety data on the label you would have thought it was deildren or something. There is no way I would have used water from it for my fish, who would have ever thought that whatever makes chololate flavour could be so scary  The drum still smells like chocolate after 12 months of use carrying water.

As Joel mentioned.. pesticides/herbacides are commonly of a type called "ethylated amines" .... Previously most were part of the "triazine" group.... now banned in many countries...

OMG it might help if you use a credible source!
"Ethylated amines" are used in wetting agents, used with some herbicides to help penetration.
The "triazine" group are a small fraction of registered herbicides. There have been water contamination issues in areas with very sandy soils but is a useful chemical group elsewhere.

Any mis-use of a chemical is potentially dangerous. Misinformation is more dangerous.

Mate, you can recommend what you like, it is not dangerous misinformation to suggest that you should think twice about using containers used to store roundup for an aquaponic system.. How can that possibly be dangerous.. :dontknow:
