What better way to learn about conservation, animal and plant symbiotic lifecycles etc.
If anyone wants to donate some old stuff I'd like to set a small aquaponics system up at my kid's school in Perth. I would get it running at home for a few months and once I understand it I'll set it up at the school. Better still if someone with experience wanted to donate directly to the school and give a little talk I will arrange it.

You can download the "Barrelponics" manual for free Wakamole... it's a complete "how to build it" manual...

What school are you at? You are welcome to bring some kids over here for a look at what can be done at a school and get them enthusiastic about fundraising to buy their own from BYAP. See the Westfield Primary School thread in the systems in schools section.

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the offer
I will tell the principal about the other school
I'm not a teacher just a dad but the school (Duncraig Primary) is greening up quite well - solar panels, community recycling and a veggie garden.
I was hoping someone here may have some gear they'd grown out of as they moved to a bigger system and I could get the kids to set it up in the veggie zone which is caged off.

also I was thinking the recycled idea of a barrelponics is a strong message to the kids - not everything has to come out of a box
