I use approx. 2000L of water on my plant collection each week. I add fertiliser to the water in a weak solution. Could I start finglings in a 1000L shuttle and get enough water changes (use fish water on plants)to keep the fish healthy? I would like to get some fish started before it turns too cold. I plan to set up grow beds as well later.
Thanks Bruce

general rule is pump the same volume of water thru the gbs as is in your ft once a hour
\youd probably have to swap out the water once a day, so a hell of a alot of water would be used
better off getting a biofilter (or cannister filter) for your tank, and using that unti you get gbs

Ideally want the water to be full of Nitrates (for the plants), not straight Ammonia, so you need some sort of biofilter to do that jobbie. You can possibly use something like an air lift biofilter to do the job of turning ammonia into nitrate whilst you don't have growbeds. Think corner filters like aquariums use.

YOu essentially need surface area and flow.
